Designing our Freelace Artists Portfolios and Galleries to help find Art and Graphics Freelance Jobs!

Here is what we are doing to get our promotions and portfolios for our freelance graphic artists design and and as well any galleries of my graphic art design.
OK today I will start with my assistance to others that want to set up a portfolio or blog in order to promote themselves as a freelance artist which is just another step in getting your self noticed online and in the search engines and also to help you make more money as a freelance artist.  So I would assume you have plenty of content for your self promotion.  I also will document this on the freelance blogs I have been working on.   But of this work or content you have for your portfolio or blog be sure that it is the best of your work and also represents the media you are looking for freelance work in and also represents where you want to go with your work,  for example if you want to just specialize in one area , then you will not need works of art from many different formats that you are not concerned with. For example if you want to get work as freelance animation artist then you would not add images of oil paintings you did while in college unless they were used in your demo reel. Also if you are a animation artist then still images of the Xmas tree in your front yard will not help. First off  if by chance a studio you have been preparing for will not help you at all and in all honesty may get your portfolio tossed before you even have a chance.  But if your work is animation be sure to have a demo reel video or this whole exercise will not work for you.  I will help you with the whole process here but I am not writing blogs for anyone just as you will also have to come up with your own keywords, your own code if you need it etc … Also I will point you at both free and paid blogging and portfolio services and the rest of the decisions will be up to you to provide in the end.  Also I can give you advice and consultation about links, plugins and scripts, what you need to include such as a gallery portfolio page and and whether or not in my opinion you need both still images and videos etc …  But I will not guarantee you a spot for a specific keyword or whether you should pay for hosting of a WordPress blog or use a service etc  …

This evening I am going to give you a heads up though, If you want to use prepaid hosting then I suggest you get that now …  Below I will list some companies that I have used and have great support, impeccable redundancy, and a friendly and helpful staff.  As well these companies also support the WordPress blog platform, and they also have a easy to edit page system so you will not need to go and get a wyswig (what you see is what you get ) page editor. But if you have adobe creative suite then you already have design tools from adobe including Dreamweaver, Fireworks, In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop and Flash Professional this is not going to be and in depth class for design  or coding either but I will give you some help to get what is needed for a blog and a portfolio type of gallery.  If art is your strong point then a signing up and using free hosting may be the quick and easy fix to get you on your way. I will explain also how to later export the database for use on your own hosting, ip and domain later.  If you are thinking about a eCommerce version as well I will add a simple solution that is very affordable also as well as quite easy to set up integrated into a hosted domain.  If this is the case that you want to go all out then message me today and I will help answer more questions so that you do not to far behind. If you are only going to use free hosting and also a WordPress free account then you will have a large part of it set up within session or two if you are looking to build a highly customized site well this will require a bit more time of following along with me closely for quite a few days and maybe a few weeks before all is done and complete.  But due to the fact I will go over both paid domains, paid hosting use of eCommerce and much more I will be touching on  the free versions first. OK so I am listing 6 options to getting you started and these are the paid solutions first . I will hit the post button before I list these though to make sure I do not lose anything.
So #1 not all you read on the internet is true.
Also be aware that besides many of the sites listed under for example best 10 web hosting sites are only the top 10 paying web companies. By this I mean these companies have paid the websites advertising them the most. Often these marketing sites have been around years already and may also have special deals with hosting companies as they have been doing client basis for years.

#2 Remember since these sites are being paid for the reviews they may also be putting up libel reviews so that even there listing site is 2nd or 5th down the list they are trying to discourage the customers via lies for some of the sites so you will then pay for one of the sites further down and on our there top 10 list

#3 if there is not at the very least a 1800 support number turn and run away now. If your cannot call for support then you should not use them. I mean this is the year 2012 and no 1800 support means that you are 100 percent at there mercy and as well if you are in the US it should be a US support staff. The only site that I can tell you is a little outside the box on this is Wix they do have and 800 number but from what I am seeing it is only from 7 am untill 6 or 7 pm Monday through Friday. I as well found some people making the same comments on forums about numerous web hosts saying the servers and staff are in Russia and or china, that the servers are always down and the employees names are all Russian … and all of it was untrue

#4 best ways to check a host

I saw the same type things towards liquid web with same type smears …claiming that they are in Russia or china etc … the coupons did not work etc … well Just as a good example of the smears … Liquid web is only a few miles from me also ,,.. I am in Lansing Michigan I know where these hosts are. Best way to test a host is call there support line 2 or 3 times over a few days at all different hours and see how quick they answer the phone. after they answer phone ask a basic question and then ask one that is a little harder to solve. If they get them right then you should be ok but if you are clueless about web servers be sure to get a package that provides support because .a host in general provides a spot to run a domain ,,, they are not responsible to code, build your site, etc .. just make sure the server is online and running fast not overloaded … Go Daddys servers I have seen very overloaded and they would not fix the issues for many many people. But Wix is quick, Ix Webhost is quick and Liquid web is quick used two of the three for 3 years liquid web and for 7 years IX and one of our forum members uses Wix and has for going on two years now without any problems and he is not a server guru …

Choose either Lquid Web starting at $14.95 USD which you get 2 domains included for a year

IX Webhosting starting at 13.99  month plus a $30 set up fee includes 2 domains and 10 plus sites can be hosted with wordpress included

Wix which includes 1 free domain and a blog for $12.45 a month and a installation of  wordpress

I can not make the decision for you but to start any one of these will work and they all support wordpress. Now if want a ecommerce set up then I know a good system that will work and I have developed them on IX Webhosting and as well on Liquid Web.   If you would like to see and example of a one of the sites I set up just email me or message me on Facebook and I will show you some that are still on either of those sites. Anyway I am going to go through setting up a professional site one that includes a shopping cart e commerce system for less then $250 for a whole year of hosting and the eCommerce as well. and then depending on how big you grow the site the hosting and everything can cost as little as $150 for next year. And if you would like to spend only 75 more dollars you can also set up and affiliate program for it as well.  In the end you will at the most have to write a line or two of html in a url but for the most part all configuration is done with forms.  Now you may wonder what I would like for showing you all of this ?  Well it is pretty simple and will cost you nothing out of pocket. I just would like a link to few of my sites.  If you need extra help I will for very minimal cost give extra support , but most will not need that even if you do not normally do any more then surf facebook.  The whole reason I learned web design , seo etc as well some graphic design of banners, logos etc in the beginning is because I wanted to build my own art gallery to display my artwork.  So tonight we will start with our free portfolios and our free site blogs for our freelance artt services and also to show off our paintings, drawing. sculpting or other fine art works. You could be building this to show off some t shirts you made designs for and want to show off.  Or some Matquette digital prints …   You will have custom artists design websites and depending how much time and creativity you put into … especially since we are already graphic artists already you could have a freelance graphic website design that includes your graphic freelance art design that looks like a design agency 100% built it just adding your art portfolios and your  graphic design company style of of graphic art galleries!

Hello and welcome to freelance artists blog, this is my first post though I will post on a regular basis as well I will bring in new members from Facebook, Blogger, Linkedin, Twitter  and even sites like Squidoo and as well others about freelance art, freelance artists, where to get freelance jobs, how to further your self and promote yourself as and artist.  To start being a freelance artist is not easy, there is so many things that you need to know and as well getting recognition is not something that just occurs. In order to begin your career as a freelance artist and doing freelance artwork for a living there are many things that are important and as well your art instructors did not explain or tell you about.  In the next few months I will go over and explain many things that you should be doing or should have already done, and these are just the things that many miss, but are important to your career as a freelance artist. First off we as artists do this work because it is something that we love to do. But at times as a freelance artist and hired paintbrush and pen,  there may be jobs that you do not like, this I can tell you is part of your job and pleasing your client if important to furthering your career in freelance art. If you have taken jobs that you not like you understand where I am coming from but if you want to eat work may not always be fun. In this case do the best job the client could ask for because even though it may not seem like it is important but to the client the great work you did means everything in the world and the client should get your best. In other words do not forget where the food on the table comes from, a pleased client is the best of resumes and if hundreds , thousands, or even millions of people see your work and it is below par you are only hurting you …. as well and unhappy client is not going to bring more business.

This all being said never undersell your abilities as a client, if the job you are bidding on is going to take more time then what the client wants to pay you for give them a bid for what the work is worth and leave it at that, if there is another artists underbidding you then let them have it rather then giving sub par work. As well underbidding your work and selling your self short only hurts the artist community as as whole. Once you start under bidding on projects then others start feeling that they must do the same and this is only going to snowball, yes some countries have a lower cost of living but when someone is looking to get cheap work done because of this and employ someone that they cannot easily communicate with they will pay for it when the job they wanted does not get done in  the proper manner.  I have seen this happen in many different manners where someone hires someone from a country with lower wages and they get taken because the person working for less takes much longer to complete the project, they do not have the tools to do the job, a new  contractor has to be hired because the deadlines are not being met, they have a lack of communication because of language barriers, there is no recourse for sub par work etc … there are many things that can go wrong and it is often because people are cutting corners. For this reason I encourage people doing freelance work to make a presence and work for people where they are before going international. If you are not making money where you live why would you think that it will be better somewhere else ?   There are so many mistakes that I see and this is the reason I am writing this , some of the best zbrush freelance artists I know are from countries other then the United States, and they work both in there home countries as well in Hollywood, but they have so much work at home the work in Hollywood is just a plus. The reason behind this is that they are great artists and have done the jobs they were paid top do better then anyone else does or will.  Well this is my first post and there will be many others as well as guest writers, interviews and more on a regular basis.
